What the best answer mark means

A best answer is the one reply on a question Wave that the asker or a moderator has marked as the reply that solved it.

How it is earned

The person who started the question Wave, or a moderator of the Flow, marks one reply as best.

  • The Wave's status changes to Solved
  • The person who wrote the reply gets a notification
  • The mark adds 3 points to their trust score

How it is lost

A reply loses the mark in two ways.

  • The asker or a moderator marks a different reply. Only one reply can be best, so marking a new one unmarks the old one
  • Moderators hide or delete the reply, or its author's account is suspended (which hides their answers until an admin restores them)

One example

Fictional example. Priya asks "Can a late joiner get a partial refund?" in a cohort Flow. Three people reply. Priya marks Ravi's answer as best because it names the deadline and the steps. The Wave shows Solved, Ravi gets a notification and 3 trust points.

A month later the refund policy changes. A moderator posts an updated answer and marks it best. Ravi's reply stays in the thread as a normal reply, and the 3 points from that mark come off his score the next time it is recalculated.
