Support threads that are still there next year.
A public Flow for your project: questions with marked answers, maintainer office hours and a Page for each sponsor.
Set idempotent: true on the job. v3 makes it the default.
Borrowed chat can be taken back
In June 2025 the Kubernetes community had less than a week's notice before losing its sponsored Slack plan, putting years of answers at risk.
Be fair to GitHub Discussions
It is free and lets you mark an answer. For questions tied to code, it is often the better home. Dium adds live office hours, sponsor Pages and room for users who do not have a GitHub account.
How projects use it
Questions with answers
Each question is a Wave in your project's Flow. Users ask. Contributors answer. The asker marks the best answer, and the thread stays readable without an account on a public Flow.
Office hours
A monthly session with a meeting link, raised hands and a poll on what to build next.
Sponsor Pages
Each company that funds you gets a Page with their logo, a wall and a link. Thank them in public.
Is Dium free for open source projects?
There is no special program today. Every Flow is free under 50 members. Past that, one flat monthly price per Flow, from $29, never per contributor. See pricing.
Do contributors need a GitHub account?
No. People sign in with an email code or a social account, which helps users who are not developers.

Give your users a place to look first.
Free while your Flow is under 50 members. Flat pricing after that, never per seat.
