How they compare on what matters

Selling access or answering questions?

Skool is built to help creators sell: courses, payments and a simple feed, with a transaction fee on sales (as of September 2026, Skool pricing). Dium does not sell memberships or courses. It is built for Q&A: every question is a Wave (a typed thread), the asker marks a best answer, and solved Waves become a knowledge base.

Price at your size

Skool Hobby is $9/mo for unlimited members, with a 10% fee on what you sell (as of September 2026). If you do not sell anything and have more than 49 members, Skool Hobby costs less than any paid Dium plan. Dium is free under 50 members and $29/mo for up to 50.

Keeping your content

Ruzuku, a Skool competitor, reports that Skool has no content or discussion export. We have not verified this ourselves. In Dium, owners can request an export of their Flow's Waves and answers from [email protected].

Live sessions and events

Both include live calls. Dium sessions add RSVP seats, raised hands, polls, breakout rooms, co-hosts and recurring schedules. Dium also has Pages for sponsors, speakers and exhibitors, which suits programs and events.

Where Skool is better

No tool is best for everyone. If these matter most to you, Skool is probably the better choice.

  • Selling a paid community with courses and payments in one place.
  • Gamification that keeps creator communities active.
  • A very simple setup with few settings.
  • Price for large free-to-join groups: Hobby is $9/mo for unlimited members, as of September 2026.

Moving from Skool

Start small. Most groups move their questions first and keep everything else where it is.

  1. Keep selling where you sell

If your paid community and courses live on Skool, keep them there.

  2. Open a Flow for Q&A

Free under 50 members. Use it for a cohort, a program or an event where questions matter most.

  3. Seed your FAQ

Post the questions members ask most as Waves with marked best answers. There is no Skool importer today.

  4. Schedule your calls as sessions

Move recurring calls to session Waves with RSVPs, so questions from each call stay on record.
