Profile types and what each can do

Profile types are custom roles. Each sits on top of a base Flow role and adds its own limits.

Numbers in brackets are per-member limits. Dium enforces them on the server, not just in the interface.

Set it up in six moves

  1. Create the Flow

Choose the conference category, set the event URL so the back button returns to your event site, and add your logo.

  2. Add four profile types

Attendee, Speaker, Sponsor and Organizer. Send each group its own invite link.

  3. Create a session Wave per talk

Add time, duration, seats and the meeting link. Add co-hosts for panels. Event partners can load the agenda through the API.

  4. Open AMAs before the day

One AMA per headline speaker with an end time, so questions arrive early and close on their own.

  5. Invite speakers and sponsors to their Pages

Each creates one Page with a wall, team and call-to-action button.

  6. Run the day live

Go live on each session, use polls and breakout tables, and mark best answers during breaks.

Access and moderation settings

Start with these, then adjust once you see how members use the Flow.

Join mode: Open or approval

Open for public events. Approval if you check registrations by hand.

Visibility: Public

Public so speakers can share session links. Switch to private for member-only events.

Moderators on shift

Give two or three organizers the moderator or organizer role for the day. They see the reports queue.

Slow mode

Turn on slow mode in the keynote Wave so questions stay readable.

Flags

Organizer flags suspend at once, which matters when a spammer shows up mid-keynote.

Variations

Multi-track events

Create one Flow per track and group them in a Room, so attendees and DMs carry across tracks.

In-person only

Leave the meeting link empty and put the room name in the session. Q&A still happens in the Wave.

Year-round sponsors

Keep sponsor Pages open after the event, so their wall and discussions keep working.

The recipe as data

For partners creating Flows through the API. This is the profile type shape Dium stores in a Flow's settings. Dium adds each type's short code itself.

Partners can pass settings_json when calling ladder.php action create. Check the API reference for which fields are applied on create before relying on it.
