In short
- You see analytics for your own Page and messages members send you. Not their emails.
- No scraping, selling or bulk messaging of members.
- Label sponsored content. You cannot buy scores or best-answer marks.
Who these terms are for
These terms apply to organisations and people who use Dium in a commercial role:
- Sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and partners who have a Page in a Flow. A Page is a branded space with a wall, a discussion thread, team members and a call-to-action button.
- Integration partners who embed Dium in their own website or create Flows, Waves and Pages through the partner API.
They add to our Terms of Service and community guidelines. If they conflict, these terms win for your commercial use. A signed agreement with Dium wins over both. [COUNSEL: confirm order of precedence]
Eligibility
- You act for a real business or organisation, and you have authority to accept these terms for it.
- You got your Page from a Flow owner, from a profile type that allows Pages, or through a partner integration Dium approved.
- Your account is not suspended, and you are not barred from Dium.
- [COUNSEL: minimum age, sanctions and restricted-industry rules]
Flow owners decide whether their Flow allows Pages, and can archive a Page in their Flow.
Member data and leads
Members did not sign up to be marketed to. Here is what you get and what you may do with it.
| What | What you receive | What you may use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Page analytics | Visit count, views, button clicks, messages and downloads on your own Page | Understand interest in your Page |
| Messages to you | DMs and Page wall messages members choose to send you | Reply to that member about what they asked |
| Your Page's discussion thread | Replies members post there, visible to the Flow | Answer questions in the open |
| Member emails | Not provided. [Confirm] | Ask the member directly if you want to email them |
You must not
- Copy, scrape or export member lists, profiles or content.
- Sell, rent or share member data with anyone else.
- Add members to a mailing list or CRM without their clear consent.
- Send bulk or unsolicited DMs. DMs are limited to 30 a minute and bulk sending breaks the guidelines.
- Try to find out who a member is beyond what they chose to share.
When a member does give you their details, you are responsible for handling them lawfully. [COUNSEL: controller or processor roles for sponsor-collected data, and whether a data processing addendum is needed]
Disclosing sponsored content
- Make it clear who you are on your Page and in every Wave you start.
- Label paid or promotional content as sponsored. [Confirm how sponsored Waves are labelled in the app]
- Speakers and members who are paid by, work for, or get free products from a sponsor must say so when they recommend it.
- Do not make claims you cannot back up. Do not post fake reviews or testimonials.
No pay-for-ranking
- You cannot buy best-answer marks, helpful marks or trust score points, and must not offer anything for them.
- Prizes or perks on your Page must not depend on members marking your replies helpful or best.
- [Confirm before publishing: Sponsorship does not change organic scores.]
How scores work is explained in our methodology.
Rules for integration partners
- Keep your API key secret and on your server. Send it in the
X-Api-Keyheader. Tell us at once if it leaks and we will replace it. - Request only the scopes you need.
- Issue sign-in tokens only for people your own site has already signed in and verified. You are responsible for every token your key issues.
- Mount Dium only on the origins we have approved for you.
- Do not get around rate limits or other security controls.
- Show members a link to Dium's privacy policy and these guidelines where you embed Dium.
Fees
Sponsorship fees agreed between you and an event or Flow owner are between you and them. Dium is not a party to those deals and does not pay out to sponsors or partners. [Confirm; add any partner revenue-share terms if they exist]
Suspension and ending
We may limit, archive or remove a Page, revoke an API key or suspend an account that breaks these terms, following the steps in our guidelines. We will tell you why, unless the law stops us. You can stop using Dium at any time. [COUNSEL: what happens to Page content and analytics after termination]
Disputes
For a wrong trust score or best-answer mark, use our correction policy. For moderation decisions, use the appeals process. For anything about these terms, email [email protected]. [COUNSEL: governing law, venue and dispute resolution]
Changes
We will post changes here with the date, and email Page owners and integration partners at least [notice period, e.g. 30 days] before a material change applies.
